Technical advice logging on.
For the meeting I will be using video conferencing software.
There are many different types of video conferencing software and they all do basically the same thing.
You may be familiar with Zoom, which is one type. But for this meeting I will be using video conferencing software called "Google Meet". It's not quite so well known as Zoom but it has many advantages.
If you click on the link it may take you to the app store and ask you to install Google Meet. If it does please do so, it's free.
However there is a particular technical issue which can cause difficulties. I'm going to describe an easy and complete fix to this technical issue.
This is the problem. With perfectly good but slightly older Apple devices, iPads and iPhones. When it takes you to install Google Meet from the app store. You might get a message saying that you're operating system is not current enough and it needs a higher more modern operating system version.
This is the complete fix for the above problem. If you email the video conference link to yourself and open it within the Gmail app, It will work. This is because on Apple devices the Google Meet software is quietly incorporated into the Apple Gmail app.
It's as simple as that. If you open the video link within the Gmail app it will work.
However it might be you don't have Gmail installed on your Apple device. It's quite easy to install from the app store. You don't need a Gmail email address to use the Gmail app. But if you have a non-gmail email it requires a little setting up. The easiest thing is to create a Gmail email address. It's incredibly simple and free when you get to the login screen it's simply asks login to your existing Gmail account with your email and password or create a new Gmail email. It's completely free and only takes a couple of minutes.
You can test out the video link at any time to check that it works. If you have any technical difficulties please don't hesitate to drop me an email or give me a call on the above contact details.
All the very best James.
